A series of illustrations studying the Japanese military class known as samurai. The word itself means ‘to serve’ and the samurai would serve their master without fail. I based this series on photos taken in the late 1800’s as the age of the samurai was nearing its end. Using a limited colour palette and thick lines to mimic the old woodcuts of the Japanese artists throughout the centuries.
